One woman’s quest to improve the world!

Don’t try to stand in her way.  In fact, please join her in her quest.

For the past 25 years, Teresa Riccobuono has been helping people improve their lives.  During that time she has noticed that people’s lives have become more hectic, more impersonal and more possession oriented.  “People have forgotten what is truly important in this world” she says, “and my mission is to change that”. In fact, her life mission reads, To Take Action to Improve at Least One Person’s Life Every Day. How’s that for a job description?

You may not have heard of her yet, but you will.  This tiny dynamo has the energy and persistence to “improve the world” one person at a time.

So, how does she propose to do this? Well, she has had a terrific start. Since 1987, she has been volunteering for local and national charities. She has done the usual stuff like building houses for Habitat for Humanity and fundraising, but lately she has been embarking on a new line of thinking as it relates to charitable work. “I want to help individuals using more direct, hands on techniques, to teach them something that will benefit them throughout their life”. This passion speaks so strongly to her that she has written a television show on just this subject.

In the meantime, while waiting for the show to get picked up, Teresa is focusing on local charities that mirror her mission. Two specifically that she is currently targeting is Wardrobe for Opportunity and Women’s Initiative for Self Employment (WISE).

Her goal here is to work her magic on a person’s physical appearance. For the past 25 years as a certified image and color consultant, she has worked very closely with individuals to present their best to the world. “When people feel that they look great, they exude a confidence that is working on the inside as well as the outside. When someone feels they can conquer the world, there’s a good chance they will”.

Her unusual skill in this area is her expertise in thrift store shopping. Over the past 33 years, Teresa has honed her skills in what she calls ‘recycled retail’. 17 years in traditional retail didn’t hurt either.  Teresa teaches others how to purchase top notch clothing at next to nothing prices. “I can wardrobe someone for a job interview for $50.00 top to bottom”.  This is a great skill that Wardrobe for Opportunity graduates can utilize as wells as the WISE graduates as they promote their businesses to the public.

As a professional organizer, Teresa brings her stress relieving skills to individuals who are drowning in clutter and disorganization. “I hear again and again from clients that they feel a weight lifted off of their shoulders once we have worked together.  The standing joke I have is that I help people lose weight. In fact, I can help you lose 40 pounds in one day. I was working with a client recently who said at the end of the day, ‘Teresa, I think we lost more than 40 pounds today’. It brings me great pride and satisfaction to bring that kind of calm and organization to someone’s life”. You may not have noticed, but in our effort to keep up with the Jones’s, we have buried our lives, our minds, our houses and our garages with useless stuff. Teresa’s goal is to change this mind set. Visit her website at SimplyOrganized.com for information and tips.

And if that is not enough, Teresa manages her own consulting business, helping business owners improve efficiencies in their own business in order to increase revenue and peace of mind.

The old adage, if you want to get something done, ask a busy person applies here. Teresa has come to realize, just as others have, that the more she does to help others, the more fulfilled her life becomes.
